Symptom checklist

  • Sharp flank pain radiating to the groin
  • Burning or blood while passing urine
  • Frequent urge with scanty urine
  • Nausea during pain episodes
  • Known stones on scan with periodic colic

Ayurvedic root-cause view

Mutrashmari (Ashmari): Kapha and Vata derangement with highly concentrated urine lets crystal deposits form. Low water intake, excess salt and oxalate load, and suppressed urinary urges are the usual drivers.

Conventional vs Ayurvedic comparison

ESWL and laser procedures fragment stones physically but leave unchanged the chemistry that formed them. Ayurvedic diuretic and stone-dissolving herbs work to flush small stones, ease the passage of medium ones, and correct the urine chemistry so new stones do not form.

Clinical note

Stones above 8 mm, fever with obstruction, or a completely blocked kidney are urological emergencies and are referred for procedural care without delay.

What size stones can Ayurveda handle?

Stones up to 6 to 8 mm usually respond to the flushing and dissolving protocol. Larger stones, or obstructing ones, are referred for procedural care first.

How many weeks does it take?

Small stones often clear in 2 to 4 weeks; the prevention phase continues for 3 to 6 months to fix the underlying chemistry.

How is the pain managed during passage?

Antispasmodic and analgesic herbs ease the colic, and we monitor passage with scans so nothing is left to chance.

Will stones come back?

They do when urine chemistry is unchanged. Phase 3 exists for exactly this: fluid, salt, and oxalate correction with follow-up testing.

Which foods should I limit?

Salt, oxalate-rich items (spinach, tomato seeds, groundnuts), excess non-vegetarian protein, and sugary drinks. The prevention phase gives you a personalised list.

Do I still need to drink 3 litres of water?

Yes, dilution is the cheapest stone prevention. Your target is set by body weight and climate, not a fixed number.

Can I avoid surgery completely?

For stones within the passable size range, usually yes. The aim is to avoid both the procedure and the next stone, which is where the prevention phase earns its place.

Are the herbs safe for the kidneys themselves?

Yes, the chosen Mutrala herbs are kidney-supportive; renal function is checked before and during the protocol as a routine safeguard.

I get stones every year, what is different here?

Recurrent stone formers need the metabolic work-up and correction that Phase 3 covers, not just another flush. That is the difference between clearing this stone and stopping the next one.
